We Will Get It All Wrong

Education will eventually say yes to AI—
because it has to.
But we risk getting it wrong.
We will surround it with policies,
regulations,
guardrails in the name of safety.
And in doing so,
we might strip away the best part—
the wild, untamed space
where anything is possible.
AI doesn’t thrive in control.
It thrives in wonder.
But education leans toward the opposite—
rubrics, pacing guides, expected outcomes.
We will try to tame it.
Make it predictable.
Sterile.
Measurable.
And we risk making it smaller.
Less magical.
Maybe the challenge isn’t AI itself—
but how much possibility it invites.
But what if we let them roam a little?
Through ideas.
Through wonder.
Through what AI makes possible.
Maybe that is what it means to learn—
not to stay confined,
but to move freely into the unknown.
Maybe learning today lives outside the lines.
