The Shift

Updated: 4 days ago

May 1st- Written By Tara Voigt

A teacher asked me what to do about students using AI.

I didn’t have all the answers.

But we had an honest conversation—and it wasn’t like others.

No pushing.

No pulling.

She just stepped forward.

And something shifted.

For her.

For me.

For education.

Instead of asking how to keep AI out,

she asked how to let it in.

We didn’t complain.

We didn’t throw our hands up.

We just talked—two teachers, thinking forward.

We explored one of her lessons,

reimagined it with AI in mind,

to reshape the learning

and meet her students where they are now.

Because our students are using AI—

and that isn’t going to stop.

We won’t move forward by asking students to change.

We need to change.

And in that moment,

she showed me—we can.

And we will.
